Federer Crushes Davydenko to Win Doha Qatar Championship
8 Jan
World Second ranked Roger Federer won the Qatar ExxonMobil Open trophy beating 2010 champion Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match of the ATP
tournament in Doha.
Fed seized the championship for the 3rd time, posting consecutive victories in 2005 and 2006, earning him the lone three-time victor in tournament. The triumph marked 67 Tour trophies for Fed, who nabbed 250 ATP points along with $177, 000 in prize earnings.
In addition, the title in Doha offers Federer the finest possible planning for the Melbourne Australian Open, which takes place shortly. Roger is the defending champ in Melbourne as he searches for a 17th Slam singles title.
The #2 seeded Federer was hardly tested on service during the event, only getting broken once in 42 serve games to arrive at the championship match, and was equally as amazing against The Russian. Roger did not face a break point and won 79 percent of first serve pts.
